First Aid for an extruded tooth
Call our office as soon as possible at
1-800-864-8441 Until you reach our office, to relieve pain, apply a cold compress to the outside of the mouth or cheek in the affected area. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever (such as Tylenol or Advil) if needed.
Long Term care for a partially dislodged tooth The dentist will usually attempt to properly position the partially dislodged
tooth, using minimal pressure. The tooth
should be stabilized and biting forces removed. If more than an hour has lapsed, there may be a
bleeding impediment within the socket to regain ideal placement. A partially dislodged tooth,
incompletely repositioned, may be moved at a later time using orthodontic
treatment but your regular dentist will follow up with a long term plan for treatment.
